Sleep Apnea Treatment in Escondido
Sleep, breathe, and feel better.
Eliminate airway issues & improve your health
Not many people know that a dentist can treat sleep apnea. In reality, Drs. Reyes and Madrigal are your best line of defense to this potentially life-threatening condition. Sleep apnea stems from the mouth and throat, so there are early indicators that we can catch during your regular dental exams.
Our doctors have invested in the latest technology to offer high-tech, comprehensive sleep apnea treatments focused on prevention and resolution. We’ll make sure you get the restful (and safe) sleep you need to enjoy a happy and healthy life.
What is sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is a potentially serious medical condition caused by an obstruction in the airway — either excess tissue in the mouth and throat or a compressed airway while you’re sleeping. This obstruction causes your breathing to stop periodically during the night (often 20 to 30 times an hour). These wake-sleep, wake-sleep episodes are so quick that most people don’t remember them or realize they’re happening at all.
In this case, ignorance is not bliss. Left undiagnosed and untreated, sleep apnea is believed to contribute to high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and even brain injury.
Do you have sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea is more common than you may realize. An estimated 20 million people in the US suffer from this airway issue. Here are a few tell-tale signs and symptoms to watch for:
- Waking up with a headache or sore throat
- Feeling drowsy and sleepy throughout the day
- Being told you snore loudly at night
- Sudden waking during the night
How it works
TLC Escondido offers a variety of sleep apnea treatment options to fit your needs.
Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scans
This high-definition imaging technology allows for early detection of dental health issues, including airway obstruction. This scanner allows us to assess your airway dimensions and come up with a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Oral appliance
Similar to a mouthguard, we offer custom-made oral appliances for treating sleep apnea. Worn at night, these appliances keep your lower jaw in a forward position to keep your airway open. Some oral devices also prevent your tongue from obstructing your windpipe.

Karin R.
My husband Gary recently had a new crown made at TLC Dental using a state of the art machine called Cerec. The entire procedure was completed in just a few hours start to finish and the crown is absolutely beautiful! One visit that was it! I can’t tell you how grateful he was to miss only a few hours of work to have this procedure done in 1 visit! As my husband always tells me they are the best dentist we have ever had. So lucky to call them ours! Thank you TLC!
